Winchester, Virginia, founded in 1744, is the oldest Virginia city west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located at the northern entrance to the Shenandoah Valley, the City was once home to General Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters (1861-62); George Washington’s Office where he spend much of his time in Winchester (1748-1758); jazz musician John Kirby, and country singing legend Patsy Cline.  The Winchester area is rich with historical museums, battlefield sites and other visitor attractions.

Jim Barnett Park, the site of the 2011 Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old World Series, is located in the heart of the city and includes indoor and outdoor pools, playgrounds, walking trails, athletic fields, gymnasium, fitness room, racquetball court, shelters, a dog park, 18-hole disc golf course, stocked fishing lake, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a radio-control car race track, a BMX race track and so much more!  Jim Barnett also is the home of the Shenanoah University Hornets and Winchester Royals baseball teams. 

Recreation facility passes (indoor and outdoor pools, racquetball court, fitness room and gymnasium*) will be available for purchase at a special World Series discount rate for use during the tournament (valid August 12-20, 2011).  *Available during scheduled drop-in times.
